"Name In Vain"

I haven't been much of a praying man,
but as a child I would pray out loud.
Some things I've seen have sort of shut me up,
somehow

Some things that happened to the ones I loved
And looking further at the world itself -
God, you better save a little punishment up
for hell

Lord,
sometimes it feels so good
to say your name,
but it's in vain.

You said you know that God could never give
a burden heavier than you could bear.
But when I see you crumple under it,
I'm so
scared

I try to lift you help you get back up,
I try to hold you as you try not to cry,
the only thing I have to say to God -
is why?

Lord,
sometimes it feels so good
to say your name,
but it's in vain

Lord,
sometimes it feels so good,
to say your name

in vain

Dear God I never thought that you weren't there.
But somehow still I seem to have lost my faith.
It's hard for me to believe you care
these days

She said you had to put her to the test
She said so far you're probably not impressed
I guess to you it probably all makes sense,
it's all for the best

it's all
for
the best

Lord,
sometimes it feels so good
to say your name
but it's in vain

Lord,
sometimes it feels so good
to say your name

in vain.
