seduction of the ulterior

my mind is beyond beguiling you
at this time. I have things better left
to do undesigned,
so if I should
accidentally slip -
do you really think that I should?
Get over yourself,
or it.

Oh, man. I love how this one ends. There's just enough snakiness in this poem. I'm not sure if that's what you intended, but that's how I read it, and I like it. Well done.

When I saw this comment pop up in my email, I realized my autocorrect changed a word. That should be snarkiness, not snakiness. Snakiness is not the right word at all. Plus, it's not a word I would normally think to use, and I'm annoyed that my computer thinks that I would.

I was just going along and it kind of snarked up on me. Oh, that's the end? Yes, it is. I see.

How extraordinary. You must have submitted your clarification the same minute I posted my reply - but by seconds earlier. I didn't see it at the time. I just found and approved it now, and it automatically threaded in above my previously-posted one!

Fitting and nice. I'd wondered about that once, whether comments thread in order posted/approved or by time submitted. I'm glad to find out it's the latter.

And yes! I presumed snarkiness, as you see, knowing you and your usual acuity in such things. It was fitting. Though I love how evocative snakiness is, and I'd love to write a snaky poem! - as I'm sure I have, but I don't think this is.

It would have snaked up on me.

It means a lot that you know me well enough to know that I meant snarkiness. That's a sign of a good friend (and I don't even mean that with the slightest bit of snarkiness).

"I was just going along and it kind of snarked up on me." I'm saving this sentence and adding it to my repertoire.

Do it!

And thank you. Truthfully, the first time I read it I didn't notice the typo, and saw "snarkiness." The context cues were strong. Once I noticed the typo, I just assumed it was one. I'd already formed the meaning you intended.
