"Dutch Courage"

It's a slander from history:
French envelopes, Dutch
courage and Huguenot
sex. Surprise!

We didn't need any
protection or drinks
to fall into Chinese
fortunes and die.

Oh, but just little
deaths. Petites morts
all around! Worked
to grand mal
proportions
inside you

end me.

To tack
on "in bed!"
to the end of a
scrip of white
paper baked in
to vanilla, flat dough
is supposed
to make
otherwise
boring-as fortunes
come true.

Well, it worked
quite a treat
between us
with no
clothes

Me/You
become
Us/We

for good.

Not a bad drop of blood,
none of alcohol's flood
only just what we’ve got!
Soberly and so grave, so
we know our own might,
and think may be we
should have
or have

(k)not

Good miss
& good save.
