Still working

I was born to ruin
and consequence. I have
three ears more than normal
men. One by my heart, one
by brain (we all have that),
and one further in
and down, by which
I hear everything
within me that makes
a thumping and gurgling
sound

From which I infer
strange things. Still working
on whatever they may mean,
I guide myself in inscrutable
course, corrected within
by a startling check
and immutable force.

I have unmanned the oars
