truth toddlers

And it's true what they say
you can tell the truth,
but you can't tell the truth
from a lie, unless
you've walked a mile
with truth in your shoes,
and a pants and a shirt
and a tie of lies - with
a jacket of truth, you can ease
off your arms, sling over your shoulder,
or hang on the back of a chair, while you loosen
your tie of lies. Expanding your chest
to draw in air

yet another design:
just as true as needs
dictate, circumstances
eventuate, and situations
demand.

It's the bargain we made
when we first drew in air
our very first words, and tried

how they stand.
