"Birthday"

On the day I first came to the world
and found it,
wait,
those were two widely-separated days
but in any case I found it
huge and big,
bursting with weird flavor
and a smell that has never gone away

oh hey
maybe that's me

Anyhow
the sights, the sounds
the feels - tactile
and emotional -

the whole dang thing
revelated itself

as it revelates still

it is wonderful.
Shall I keep it? Oh yes

I think
I will

and I can tell.

I will keep it full,
as it makes me old,
if it makes me ill,
as it makes me well

I will keep it still.
I will pick the pith
as I drink the juice
and I gnash the pulp,
and the rind also,

they will throw me away
an empty shell.

and away
I'll go
