your eyes twice

I forgot your eyes

and was horrified
when I remembered
your face
without them

That was the second time.

I forgot your eyes once
before. It was when
we met yet again.
You reminded me hard
to the back of my head
- and lost in them,
I apologized.

Your eyes came back to me
like I'd always known;
came back like
the dead.
Arise.
