if I were in charge of naming battleships
and other such contrivances
I'd give them names not like The Constitution
or The Independence
I'd give them names like
The Diversion, or
the
The Extravaganza.
This is not because I believe that warfare today
is some sham, some shame, some bread and circus
con, some ratings game, no. It is because I believe
the battleship has little to no place
in modern naval warfare.
