Garden of Inconstancy

A garden falling down needs
a gardener to pick it up. Here
and there to make and shape
the growing things to someone's art.
Respecting one's materials is all
the gardener must do. For nature
calls the gardener to artifice
in beam and dew.

Some of us aren't gardeners. Not
much at least, we hear the call
- but something in us wilder still
would like to find what nature
does, no gardening at all.
