"Gift of Sight"

Unveil your lamp,
o goddess of moon!
Loose the fasteners,
let shutters fall
and light spill out
like pale champagne,
as all mankind (at least,
all yours - all mine)

grows drunk from the light you play,
so generously as the shadows fall
from eyes aglow,
eyes that know,
and can never again see obstacle
or obstruction, or veil

your naked light.
Eyes can never be blind,
that have had such a gift of sight.
