hypnopompic

I was half asleep,
lying on my back and the blankets
were heavy upon me.

I opened my eyes to find your face
inches from mine,
filled with see-I-told-you-so amusement.

But you weren't there, and I tried
to pull myself back down,
into the dream

with you

but it was gone.
It was time to get up.

Next time, dream girl

We will catch ourselves
before we are through.
