"Joy in Mid-Autumn"

It brings me back to the sun beating
down and the smell of chlorine
It brings me back to the fall
of the leaves
and the rape

of Persephone.

And when I get tired of seeing
her face in the clouds, and
the streaming rain
is ready to run down,
she calls me

back indoors, she
says I'm yours,

and that's when I feel

joy.
