I am made out of

I am made
out of apologies
and things I shouldn't
ought to have

or said
or thought or
done or felt -
badly done,
and over
well

they
can't be helped
I'm sorry, though
I won't tell you
it would seem wrong
you'd think I'm crazy
keeping it alive
so long, so long
so long

boy, that is so true. Of me, I mean. I don't know about you, but I'll take your word for it. It's the human condition.
sometimes our apologies just make other people uncomfortable ... but sometimes we don't offer them b/c we're afraid the other person will just nod knowingly, as if to say, "Yeah, you did screw up. Did you only just notice?" and while that's a helpful dose of truth, often we aren't strong enough to welcome it.
