A case of not necessarily you

Your name is not
the word for you,
as some say.

It's the name
for someone's
idea of you. Which -

you've given them! Part,
and they've read into
more.

You'll probably both agree
for sure on a point or two.
Defer or demur on the rest,
and have an uneasy sense
that what's not brought up
at all
could be different,
too.

So that's you,
by their view and take.
It's some idea, and it's
not fake far as they're
concerned - but maybe

you are.

Your name's just a case
where they keep what
they've found so far.

Anything you have to say - question, critique, interpretation, praise or rebuke - is received with gratitude and interest.

If it looks like spam and contains a link, though, it will not be published. I will cherish it to myself, instead. Thank you!
