nonexistential dilemma

What if you were in your life
a most unwelcome visitor
unable to excuse yourself
without offending anyone,
and always bruised and reeling from
a constant and obscure offense
against your faith and reason,
or your dignity and common sense?
And so you'd linger, watchfully
and wonder how the others try
and bother how the others fail
despite you see the reason why,
and wonder why the others can't.

Well, what then
would you try to do?
Fit in as best you could,
stick out, or absent just as much
of self as you could pull from view?
