Threat lessons pay off
in caution that lasts us the rest
of our lives. Refusing the risk
to be victimized, by what
we were spared our chance
by sheer dumb luck. We were there,
on that very spot,
untouched in a happier time, now stuck
in a prayer, where everywhere there
but for the grace of a God gone by,
we have gone, you and I,
we don't have to fly
