When I step to the mic with my kick step twist I snap
grab it from the stand and I flick my wrist
and spit
words
such as verbs or nouns, I announce
to the crowd in a fit of such syntactical precision it frowns
and by "it" I mean, "crowd" yes, you followed it
correctly from the first and now please let me reverse
for the remainder of the verse,

ow shit - got my ass in a ditch, but
I'm not worried, I got triple A protection for this
pick-up truck, I yell

ANYONE GOT A PHONE?" but
there's no one on the road, anywhere in sight, holmes
so just where in the hell went
the so-called "crowd"?

or the stand? Did I hallucinate?
