shape and form

it's as if
my twisted heart
snapped back,
a black balloon animal,
sectioned and squinched,
each twist
squeezed off its flow,
compartments pinched
and crimped, for sake
of shape and form,
but no
the rubber slipped
and squeaked, and
snap! - untwisted
oh,
the careful kinks
you folded in

but now -

it's not a heart, you know
