my guardian angel lent me shoes
and now they're wearing out
it didn't occur to me that could happen
I've been wearing them every day
and I never even walked any place
special
I should have been careful, I guess
conserved and husbanded them
saved them up for when I had
someplace special to walk to,
in angel's shoes
I never would have worn them at all
